I’ll admit it; I was getting jealous watching all these other great bloggers and podcasters grow in numbers. I have finally been able to see other’s WordPress blogs and they have 61 likes! People that can afford Lexus SUVs make me a little envious. Watching skiing, snowboarding , and surfing videos made me wish I could go to remote parts of the world to shred. Listening to a new Christian, martial arts inspired podcast really got me covetous. Here is someone God is blessing in jiu jitsu, muy thai, ministry, and podcasting. I love martial arts but had major spine surgery. Last time I tried jiu jitsu I had a back spasm for 8-10 weeks.
After wrestling (pardon the pun) with the convoluted thoughts from looking at others succeed, I realized something: instead of coveting these people’s blessings, I could admire what they have. I can be happy for them. There is a thin line between admiration and coveting. I can choose to appreciate they have it.
All of a sudden, I was carrying a lighter load. I started to be grateful someone like The Warrior Priest podcaster was making an impact. I can be happy my Nissan SUV has good back support and all the bells and whistles. I can be content – joyous even. I am happy to see others enjoy God’s blessings and be appreciative those people are alive.
